A 386-kilometre trail can look like one enormous line on a map. On the ground, the Katy becomes a sequence of depots, river bluffs, farms and towns. Those pauses shape the trip: breakfast changes the start, a shaded bench changes the afternoon, and a conversation can decide where the day ends. Touring works best when the itinerary leaves room for that.
